Execute and Review Race Day
Race execution is the final test of decisions already practiced in training.
Combine pace, fueling, equipment, and checkpoints into one practiced plan.
Start from current evidence
Plan from current race fitness and course conditions rather than ideal pace alone. A conservative opening protects the final third.
Use practiced equipment and fueling
Super shoes and aggressive fueling can help some runners, but individual response and familiarity matter more than marketing or averages.
Review the complete race
Compare splits, effort, fueling, conditions, footwear, and recovery. The review should explain the result and improve the next training block.
Put it into practice
- Write pace and fueling checkpoints.
- Use only practiced shoes, products, and equipment.
- Complete a structured post-race review.
The race plan can be explained, executed, and reviewed without relying on improvisation.
A calculator, super shoe, or aggressive fueling plan cannot compensate for unrealistic pacing or inadequate preparation.
