Concept

Metronome cue

A repeated sound used to help a runner practice a chosen step rhythm.

What it does

The beat provides an external timing cue. Runners can match one step to each beat without continuously watching a device.

How to use it

Start with short easy blocks at a target only slightly above the natural cadence, then return to normal running between blocks.

When to remove it

The cue is a temporary learning tool. Periodically run without it and check whether the rhythm appears naturally.

How to use it

Keep effort and pace controlled, stop before the movement becomes tense, and extend exposure gradually.

Common misconception

Matching a metronome perfectly does not mean the new rhythm is appropriate or fully adapted.
